The Power of Questions: A Week of Connection and Reflection

This week has been another busy one, with over 500 young people in attendance. Each visit to a school fills me with so much hope, as the pupils have all been incredible. It’s such a humbling experience and one I will never take for granted.

I always leave room for Q&A at the end of each session. However, this week, a young student had their hand up within the first 15 minutes. Ordinarily, I would ask to keep all questions to the end, but I wanted to engage this person as soon as I could. The question they asked reinforced the importance of what this tour is all about: you are never alone.

They asked me what had happened to my siblings when I left the house. This is the second time I’ve been asked this, and it turns out on one of the occasions, it was asked by a young carer of their siblings. It goes deep and shows how much care there is within the communities for each other.

While still in a school this week, I received a very kind message from a member of the previous audience. It was gratefully received and one which I hold dear, so to you, thank you!

I’m very excited about the next few months ahead. Who am I going to meet? What issues do each school face? Can these conversations shape and change other people’s lives as we go along?

The takeaway from this week has been to keep talking. Keep generating those conversations once the presentation is over. Speak to your peers and teachers. We can all learn from each other and also know we are never alone.

Hugs,

Tina x
